Vodafone, a European telecom giant, has teamed up with chipmaker Qualcomm and smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi to successfully test new 5G technology. This new tech boasts incredible download speeds reaching nearly 1.8 gigabits per second (Gbps)! The trials were conducted in both Germany and Spain.
The testing utilized Xiaomi’s latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. This powerful device is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 5G Modem-RF System. It’s important to note that the achieved speeds varied depending on the location of the test.
The trials yielded impressive results. In Germany, download speeds were up to 20% faster than existing commercial 5G networks at a distance of 600 meters. Even more remarkable were the results in Spain, where Vodafone’s 5G test lab in Ciudad Real witnessed download speeds reaching a staggering 1.8 Gbps.
These successful tests by Vodafone, Qualcomm, and Xiaomi represent a significant leap forward in the development of next-generation mobile networks. This paves the way for a future filled with faster, more reliable, and more efficient mobile internet connectivity.
