HBO Max and Discovery+ Combine Forces to Launch MAX in the US on May 23rd

Discovery+ and HBO Max are embarking on the final stages of their merger to create a new, unified streaming service known as Max. This revamped offering aims to compete with other consolidated streaming platforms in the market. Notably, Max will now include all the content previously available on both HBO Max and Discovery+. The launch of Max is set for May 23 in the United States, with a gradual rollout to other regions to follow. Latin America is expected to receive Max in Fall 2023, while Europe, Asia, and other regions will have to wait until 2024.

It’s worth noting that the rollout of Max has been relatively slow, considering the initial merger announcement was made back in August 2022. However, the eagerly anticipated launch date of May 23 in the US is finally approaching. While the extended timeline for availability in other regions may be disappointing for some, it’s worth mentioning that HBO Max is expected to remain accessible in those regions in its current form during the transition period.

Max offers different subscription tiers in the United States, catering to different preferences and budgets. The Max Ad tier is priced at $9.99 per month or $99 per year, and provides access to two 1080p screens but does not include offline downloads. This tier is designed for those who are comfortable with ads in exchange for a lower subscription cost, following the trend of ad-supported streaming services.

For users who prefer an ad-free experience, there is the option of the No-Ad Max tier, priced at $15.99 per month or $149.99 per year. This tier also includes two 1080p screens, but offers the added benefit of 30 offline downloads, allowing users to enjoy content even without an internet connection.

For those seeking the ultimate streaming experience, the Max Ultimate tier is available at $19.99 per month or $199 per year. This premium tier supports up to four 4K streams and includes Dolby Atmos support for an enhanced audio experience. Additionally, it offers a generous 100 offline downloads, perfect for users who want to enjoy content on the go without worrying about internet connectivity.

With these different pricing tiers, Max aims to provide options for users with varying preferences and needs, whether it’s an ad-supported plan for budget-conscious viewers, a no-ad plan for a seamless viewing experience, or a premium plan for those who demand the best quality and features.
