MediaTek is set to introduce their latest flagship smartphone chipset, the Dimensity 9200+, on May 10, 2023. The chipset is expected to be an improvement over its predecessor, the Dimensity 9200.
Similar to what MediaTek did with the Dimensity 9000 and 9000+, the improvement in the Plus version is likely to be focused on clock speed. Meanwhile, the architecture, memory, fabrication, and everything else will remain the same.
According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the Dimensity 9200+ will feature 1x Arm Cortex-X3 as the prime core with a clock speed of 3.35GHz, 3x A715 performance cores with a clock speed of 3.0GHz, and 4x A510 efficient cores with a clock speed of 2.0GHz.
These figures represent an increase of 0.2-0.3 GHz compared to the Dimensity 9200. In addition, the GPU used is still the same, the Immortalis-G715, but it is unknown how much clock speed improvement will be given.
According to leaks from some time ago, the Dimensity 9200+ achieved an impressive AnTuTu score of 1,368,597. This score is higher than the latest flagship chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The iQOO Neo 8 Pro is expected to be the first to come with the new MediaTek chipset. In addition, phones from Vivo, Redmi, and also the MediaTek ROG special edition will also use the Dimensity 9200+ chipset. Let’s wait and see how the actual performance turns out at its launch on May 10.
