Samsung recently announced two new smartphones, the Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition. However, these are not your ordinary phones; they are military-grade devices designed for use by the United States military.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition comes with an IP68 rating, meaning it can be submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2+ and the body is made of Armor Aluminium. It also comes with a military-grade rugged case that can be attached to the chest or arm.
As for the XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition, it also carries an IP68 certification and meets the MIL-STD-810H standard. This means that the device can withstand drops from a height of 1.5 meters and operate in extreme temperature ranges.
In terms of software, both devices come equipped with specialized applications like the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) and Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Observation Kit (BATDOK). ATAK is useful for military observation, while BATDOK functions for monitoring the medical conditions of patients in the field.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition are also protected with Samsung Knox and Knox Dual Data at Rest (DualDAR) for securing highly sensitive data in the military realm.
