Xiaomi 13 Ultra Camera Falls Short on Top DXOMARK Ranking, Trails Behind iPhone 14

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone made its debut in early 2023 in China and recently entered the global market, starting with Hong Kong.

All the specifications, features, and smartphone reviews will tell you that its camera is great, and that is mostly true.

However, it turns out that the 13 Ultra is not good enough to be the best camera phone according to DXOMARK. In fact, it didn’t even make it into the top 10.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra Ranks 14th on DXOMARK Best Camera Phones

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra has impressed users and reviewers with its versatile camera system. We took our time to test the device’s camera ourselves and were equally impressed, noting that it can even compete head-to-head with smaller cameras like the RICOH GR series.

This sentiment has been echoed by tech publishers worldwide. However, it seems that DXOMARK is not as impressed as others.

Despite being touted by Xiaomi as the pinnacle of mobile imaging, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra did not make it into the DXOMARK rankings. With an overall score of 140, it ranks 14th, tied with the Pixel 7, Galaxy S23 Ultra, and Vivo X90 Pro Plus.

This puts it behind other top competitors like the Google Pixel 7 Pro (6th), Huawei P60 Pro (holding the 1st position), Apple iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max (8th), and even last year’s iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max (11th).

What we find surprising is that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s ranking is even lower than that of the Mi 11 Ultra from two years ago.

To remind you, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra offers an impressive camera setup, featuring four 50 MP lenses. The main camera uses the Sony IMX989 sensor, while the ultra-wide-angle camera and two telephoto cameras use three IMX858 sensors.

In its testing, DXOMARK noted some issues with the smartphone’s camera. These include a noticeable delay between pressing the shutter button and the device capturing the image.
