Amazfit Cheetah and Cheetah Pro: Perfect for Runners, Dual-Band GPS Smartwatches

Amazfit has announced the Cheetah series targeted towards runners. The smartwatches launched by Amazfit as part of the Cheetah series are called Cheetah and Cheetah Pro.

Amazfit Cheetah Pro

Let’s talk about the Amazfit Cheetah Pro first. It is advertised as a “premium watch for elite runners looking to optimize their performance” and features a 1.45″ Always-On AMOLED display with a resolution of 480×480 pixels. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and has a peak brightness of 1,000 nits to ensure screen visibility even under bright sunlight. The display also supports 100+ watch faces.

The bezel of the Amazfit Cheetah Pro is made of Titanium alloy for a premium and professional look, while the middle frame is made of reinforced fiber polymer to keep the watch lightweight. The Cheetah Pro uses a 22mm wide anti-sweat nylon strap that is adjustable from 150-220mm in length.

Cheetah Pro features responsive buttons and comfortable knobs on the right side, making it easy for users to control the watch even during intense runs. And since the Cheetah Pro is designed for runners, it comes with AI-powered Zepp Coach to provide personalized running plans tailored to the user’s goals, which are adjusted from week to week based on the user’s performance and condition.

It can also provide scientific guidance to help users understand their progress.

In some countries, Zepp Coach will come with AI Chatbot for a brief demo before becoming a subscription-based service. It uses generative AI and applies large language models (LLM) to recognize natural language descriptions from users through voice or typed commands to provide easily understandable answers to their sports-related questions. Amazfit says, “It’s like being in a one-on-one training session with a real human personal coach.”

Other features aimed at runners include Virtual Pacer, Race Achievement Prediction, and Track Run Mode. Virtual Pacer allows you to set an AI speed target, and after you have completed several runs, you can use the Race Achievement Prediction to see how you would perform on race day.

The Track Run Mode, on the other hand, provides time, distance, and speed data for each lap, and if needed, the Cheetah Pro algorithm can correct your track and distance to ensure your performance data in the Zepp App matches the path you chose.

Amazfit also advertises the MaxTrack GPS technology for runners. It utilizes dual-band GPS (L1 and L5) antennas to capture almost 100% satellite signals and reduce multi-path interference caused by tall buildings and trees to provide more accurate positioning. The Cheetah Pro also supports six satellite positioning systems for reliable coverage.

Cheetah Pro users can leverage this GPS technology by importing route files from the Zepp App and coloring the Offline Map of planned activity areas for accurate navigation during running.

Amazfit Cheetah Pro is also equipped with many standard health and fitness features, including sleep tracking, stress monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring, and heart rate tracking. The smartwatch can be connected to a heart rate belt via Bluetooth for more accurate heart rate tracking. It also supports 150+ indoor and outdoor sports modes and can automatically detect 25 strength exercises.

Other highlights of the Amazfit Cheetah Pro include offline music playback, Amazon Alexa, offline voice assistant, and support for Bluetooth phone calls. This smartwatch has a microphone and speaker, runs on Zepp OS 2.0 with support for 100+ apps, and supports 2.4GHz WLAN and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

Amazfit Cheetah Pro packs a 440mAh battery that is advertised to take two hours for a full charge. It can last up to 14 days in typical usage scenarios and up to 7 days with heavy usage. The Cheetah Pro has a 5 ATM water resistance rating and weighs 43g with the strap (34g without the strap).

Amazfit Cheetah

Amazfit Cheetah comes in two versions – round and square. We only have details about the first one, called Amazfit Cheetah (Round), so let’s focus on that.

Amazfit Cheetah (Round) is advertised as a “practical watch for aspiring athletes who want to train more efficiently” and shares most of the specifications and features with the Pro model, with the most noticeable differences in screen size and design department.

Amazfit Cheetah (Round) features a smaller 1.39″ display with a resolution of 454×454 pixels, and its bezel is made of reinforced fiber polymer instead of Titanium alloy. It also uses a liquid silicone strap, making this smartwatch weigh 47g. Without the strap, it weighs 32g.

Furthermore, Amazfit Cheetah (Round) does not come with a microphone or speaker and does not support Bluetooth phone calls. It also lacks Wi-Fi connectivity.

Amazfit Cheetah (Round) comes in Speedster Grey color, and Cheetah Pro comes in Run Track Black color. Cheetah (Round) is priced at $230, while Cheetah Pro is priced at $300 in the US. You can purchase them from Amazon, AliExpress, and the official Amazfit website, which offers a pair of Amazfit PowerBuds for free.
