The feature that allows users to send high-quality, or high definition (HD), content on WhatsApp seems to extend beyond just photos and images. WhatsApp is reportedly developing a similar feature for video delivery as well.
According to WABetaInfo, this feature is visible in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android and iOS. Just like HD photo delivery, HD video delivery does not actually send the original quality video.
The dimensions or resolution of the video will remain intact, but the sent video file will undergo significantly less compression. As a result, the overall quality of the delivered video will be much better compared to non-HD videos.
It is important to note that sending videos with standard quality will be the default option. Therefore, users will need to manually adjust the settings each time they want to send a video via chat to another user in HD quality.
The option itself can be accessed at the top along with other video editing features. Videos sent in HD quality will be labeled with an “HD” tag to differentiate them from standard quality videos.
It is currently unknown when this HD video delivery feature will be available to WhatsApp users in general. Hopefully, it won’t take too long to be released.
