How to Easily Screenshot on Windows Laptop

Taking a screenshot on a Windows laptop is very easy. Windows device users have multiple options to capture their screen.

Similar to smartphones, laptop users sometimes need to take screenshots, whether for work purposes or to explain something to someone else.

For Windows-based device users, here are some easy methods to capture the screen. Here are the details:

  1. Alt + Print Screen

Using this combination, you need to open an image editing application to save the screenshot. It’s different from just pressing Print Screen.

  2. Print Screen

Laptops with Windows 7, 10, and 11 come with a Print Screen button on the keypad. Simply press the Print Screen button, and the screenshot will be saved to a designated document that you can choose.

  3. Fn + Windows

You can also use three buttons together: Fn + Windows logo + Spacebar. The captured screenshot will automatically be saved in the Screenshot or Pictures folder.

  4. Windows + G

Press the Windows logo key + G. The camera icon will appear, and you only need to click on it. Alternatively, you can press Windows logo key + Alt + Print Screen. The screenshots will be saved in the Video folder, within which there’s a subfolder called Captures.

  5. Windows + Shift + S

If you want to take screenshots in different shapes, not the whole screen, simply press Windows logo key + Shift + S. Then, the screen will dim, and four options for different screenshot shapes will appear.

  • The first option is rectangular shape.
  • The second option is a freeform shape that you can draw yourself.
  • The third option is to capture the active window in Windows.
  • The last option is to capture the full screen.
