Twitter is set to undergo a major transformation with a rebranding effort that will see it adopting a new name, “X.” This popular social media platform’s exciting announcement came directly from its current CEO, Elon Musk.
The new website, known as X.com, has already been prepared and is now redirecting users to the familiar Twitter.com domain. Additionally, a fresh logo featuring the letter “X” is currently in the works, set to replace the iconic Twitter bird symbol.
News of the impending change first surfaced around midnight ET last night when Elon Musk initiated a series of tweets discussing the rebranding. He remained actively engaged on the platform for hours, revealing the rationale behind Twitter’s transformation into “X,” a name that holds significance as it has been used repeatedly in various company and product names.

Elon Musk wrote in one of his tweets, “We will soon bid farewell to the Twitter brand and, gradually, to all the birds.” He also shared that the new “X” logo would be unveiled later that night and, if met with a positive response, would be globally launched the following day.
The letter “X” holds a special place in Elon Musk’s history, as it has been intertwined with his ventures for the past two decades. The original name for Paypal was X.com, and subsequently, he founded the space transportation company known as SpaceX. Additionally, his company, Tesla, also embraces the “X” in its SUV model, named X.Ai.
The shift from Twitter to “X” is likely to stir up both support and opposition among users. However, Elon Musk promises significant changes and exciting features, encompassing messaging, audio capabilities, banking services, and a range of innovative offerings, all backed by cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
