In the realm of Alexa Guard, users would receive notifications in the event of any suspicious activities transpiring within their homes. Its operation involved actively monitoring the ambient environment through Amazon Echo devices and subsequently relaying alerts to the users’ connected devices.
However, there’s a notable transition: Alexa Guard has been discontinued, making way for Alexa Emergency Assist. While some of Alexa Guard’s features still persist on Amazon Echo devices, specific capabilities like smoke detection and intrusion alarms are now exclusively accessible through Alexa Emergency Assist. This means users must subscribe to this service to enjoy these advanced security features.
Yet, it’s worth highlighting that Alexa Emergency Assist introduces a broader spectrum of security functionalities. Remarkably, this new security service has the capacity to initiate calls to emergency numbers in scenarios where immediate assistance is required at home, whether it pertains to medical emergencies, police intervention, or fire emergencies.
To subscribe to Amazon’s Emergency Assist, users can avail themselves of the service at a cost of $6 per month or opt for an annual plan priced at $59. This special introductory pricing will be available until January 8th and extends its accessibility to all users. Subsequently, non-Prime customers will incur additional fees for the Emergency Assist service.
