Nokia has recently unveiled a specialized smartphone tailored for workers in extreme industrial settings, prioritizing durability and ruggedness. This industrial-grade smartphone, a collaborative effort between Nokia and i.safe MOBILE GmbH, comprises two models: the Nokia HHRA501x and Nokia IS540.1. Due to their specific niche focus, it appears that these devices will not be available for general consumers.
Designed with the needs of enterprise and heavy industries in mind, these smartphones are equipped with robust features to support public safety teams communicating on Band 68. They come with standard smartphone functionalities like Dual SIM support, eSIM compatibility, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Nokia HHRA501x and Nokia IS540.1 are integral components of Nokia’s comprehensive solution for private wireless infrastructure. They have undergone rigorous testing and certification to ensure seamless connectivity in hazardous industrial sectors such as oil and gas, mining, and chemicals. In addition to their ruggedness, these devices offer extensive connectivity options to facilitate efficient communication.
Under the hood, both smartphones are powered by the Qualcomm QCM6490 processor, typically found in IoT devices rather than mainstream smartphones. They boast a 6-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a substantial 4400mAh battery capacity.
As these devices cater to a specific industrial audience, Nokia has refrained from disclosing pricing details for the time being.
