After a seven-year gap since the introduction of the original Sofort model, Leica has officially launched its successor, the Sofort 2. This new addition to the Leica lineup is a hybrid instant camera that comes with an attractive price tag, particularly given Leica’s premium brand reputation, priced at just $389.
As reported by Notebookcheck, the Sofort 2 features an elegant and minimalist design. It not only functions as a digital camera but also boasts a built-in printer for immediate photo printing, a concept reminiscent of the popular Fuji Instax Mini.
Under the hood, the Sofort 2 packs a 5 MP 1/5-inch CMOS sensor positioned behind a 28 mm f/2 Summar lens, complete with a macro focus distance of 10 cm. The camera also sports a 3-inch LED screen on its rear body. With 45-image internal memory and a MicroSD card slot, it offers ample storage flexibility. Moreover, it provides built-in filters that enable users to enhance their photos, including fisheye, macro, and double exposure effects.
What sets this camera apart is its dual shutter button design, allowing users to seamlessly switch between portrait and landscape orientations when capturing moments. Additionally, the built-in printer is accessible at any time through the Leica FOTOS app, enabling smartphone-based photo printing.
The Leica Sofort 2, priced at $389, is scheduled to hit Leica stores starting from November 9, 2023. If you’re a photography enthusiast, this might just be the camera you’ve been waiting for.
