Samsung Announces Galaxy SmartTag 2

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag 2, a tracking device that follows closely on the heels of the Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE, and Galaxy Buds FE announcements. The Galaxy SmartTag 2 represents a departure from its predecessor in terms of design, sporting a rectangular shape with rounded top and bottom ends, and a larger keychain attachment hole.

Samsung has not only refreshed the device’s appearance but has also made significant improvements to its functionality. Notably, the battery life has been extended to an impressive 700 days, a 50% increase from the previous version. Additionally, the tracking range has been expanded to an impressive 120 meters, doubling the coverage of its predecessor.

Among the new features introduced by Samsung is the “Lost Mode.” This innovative feature enables users to insert their contact details as an emergency message via the SmartThings app. In the event that an item with a Galaxy SmartTag 2 attached is declared lost, an emergency message containing the owner’s contact information will appear on the smartphones of those in the vicinity. This message is delivered through a browser and makes use of the NFC capabilities of the Galaxy SmartTag 2.

The Galaxy SmartTag 2 is set to hit the global market on October 11, 2023, with a retail price of $29.99 USD. It will be available in two stylish color options: black and white. Samsung’s latest offering in the tracking device category promises not only improved performance but also added convenience for users seeking to keep tabs on their valuable belongings.
