Vivo Unveils Funtouch OS 14, Built on Android 14

Vivo has officially introduced their latest proprietary user interface, Funtouch OS 14, which is based on Google’s freshly released Android 14 operating system. This update aims to deliver a smoother user experience across Vivo devices.

One notable enhancement in Funtouch OS 14 is the optimization of RAM utilization. This optimization streamlines processes, allowing for the concurrent operation of multiple essential applications.

The new operating system bolsters multitasking capabilities by accommodating up to 12 active background windows. Additionally, this user interface claims to economize on RAM usage, saving as much as 600MB on smartphones equipped with 8GB or more of RAM.

A feature called App Retainer is introduced, enabling swift access to user-approved applications. Funtouch OS 14 further enriches the visual experience with its Motion Blur feature, ensuring seamless transitions when launching or closing applications on the main screen. Notably, this feature works well on smartphones with lower refresh rates, even as low as 60Hz.

Funtouch OS 14 offers users extensive personalization options, including the ability to customize the lock screen clock style, the look of the always-on display, and minimalist themes. The update also introduces improvements in video editing, privacy features, and security.

The deployment of Funtouch OS 14 will take place gradually, extending through April 2024. It begins with select devices like the vivo X90 Pro and will progressively include other devices such as the X90, vivo X80 Pro, X80, V29 series, V27 series, and iQOO devices. This phased release ensures that users across the Vivo ecosystem can benefit from the latest features and improvements.
