MediaTek has officially revealed its latest flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9400, and it’s set to take mobile performance to the next level. This new processor brings significant improvements in both power efficiency and AI capabilities, positioning it as a strong competitor in the premium smartphone market.
One of the standout features of the Dimensity 9400 is its GPU, the Arm Immortalis-G925 MC12, which boasts a 41% increase in performance, 40% better Ray Tracing, and a 44% improvement in power efficiency. For AI processing, the NPU 890 handles tasks with 35% better energy efficiency compared to the previous generation. In addition, it claims a 100% speed boost in Diffusion generation tasks and an impressive 80% increase in performance for large language model (LLM) prompts.
On the imaging side, the Imagiq 1090 ISP enables HDR video recording across zoom ranges, and offers smoother zoom switching during photo capture. The ISP is also more power-efficient, using 14% less energy when recording in 4K60, while the AI-powered ISP processing enhances efficiency by 60%. The chipset can now record video at a maximum of 8K60.
Additional support includes LPDDR5X RAM with speeds of up to 10,667 Mbps, UFS 4.0 storage, WQHD+ displays at 180Hz, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
With these upgrades, MediaTek has optimized the Dimensity 9400 for faster gaming, multitasking, and camera performance while ensuring longer battery life. The chipset is expected to power several flagship smartphones in 2024, marking a new era of high-efficiency, high-performance devices.
