Google Tensor G5 and G6 Specs Leaked: What to Expect from the Next-Gen Processors

Recent leaks have revealed the anticipated specifications for Google’s upcoming Tensor G5 and G6 processors, hinting at substantial upgrades in both performance and efficiency. As the core of Google’s Pixel smartphones, the Tensor line has gradually evolved, with each new generation aimed at enhancing AI capabilities, camera performance, and overall user experience. The leaks surrounding the G5 and G6 suggest Google is preparing to bring even more powerful, efficient, and feature-rich processors to the market.

The Tensor G5, codenamed Laguna, is expected to feature a TSMC N3E node architecture with a configuration of 1 Cortex-X4 core, 5 Cortex-A725 cores, and 2 Cortex-A520 cores. This chipset will utilize a dual-core IMG DXT GPU clocked at 1100MHz, supporting either LPDDR5X-8533 or LPDDR5-6400 RAM. Notably, the image signal processor (ISP) in the G5 will support resolutions up to 200MP, enabling 108MP shots without shutter lag and recording capabilities of up to 8K at 30fps. These enhancements indicate a strong focus on improving the photography and videography experience on future Pixel devices.

Meanwhile, the Tensor G6, codenamed Malibu, is set to be processed using TSMC N3P technology. This processor will feature a more advanced architecture with 1 Cortex-X930 core (the successor to the X925), six Cortex-A730 cores, and 1 Cortex-A530 core. The GPU for the G6 will be an IMG CXTP 3-core unit, also clocked at 1100MHz, and it will maintain compatibility with LPDDR5X-8533 or LPDDR5-6400 RAM. The G6’s ISP will enhance photographic capabilities with support for 100x zoom and a Cinematic Bokeh feature, elevating the creative potential for users.

Both processors are expected to leverage Google’s ongoing focus on AI-driven features. With the G5 set to debut in the Pixel 9 series and the G6 projected for future models beyond 2025, these advancements will likely provide significant enhancements in machine learning, real-time language translation, and improved photo processing.

Aside from raw performance gains, the leaks highlight Google’s emphasis on security and longevity with the Tensor G5 and G6. Both processors are likely to feature Google’s latest Titan security measures, providing more robust protection for personal data and resisting potential security threats. This focus aligns with Google’s recent push for extended software support, as these processors are expected to receive OS updates for up to 8 years, a significant leap for Android devices.

With these improvements, Google’s Tensor lineup is expected to become a stronger competitor against industry leaders like Apple and Qualcomm. As Google continues to refine its processors with each generation, the Pixel series could attract users seeking high-performance devices with tailored AI features and extended support.

Although official announcements are still pending, the leaked specifications for the Tensor G5 and G6 processors have generated excitement around the future of Google’s Pixel devices, with many users eager to see how these innovations will impact the Android landscape.
