For classical music enthusiasts, Apple Music Classical is now available on the App Store globally. It is a dedicated app for listening to classical music with an Apple Music subscription.
For those who are not aware, Apple Music Classical is based on the Primephonic app, which was acquired by Apple in 2021. Initially, they planned to release the dedicated classical music app in 2022, but it was eventually postponed.
Apple Music Classical is claimed to be better at handling complex metadata related to classical recordings. The app also has over 700 curated playlists and composer biographies to help people get to know this genre of music better.
Apple says that the new app has over 5 million recordings, which users can listen to in hi-res 192KHz/24bit quality. Even thousands of them are available in spatial audio.
The app can be enjoyed at no extra cost for Apple Music subscribers, except for Apple Music Voice Plan. For now, the Apple Music Classical app is only available on the App Store, while the iPad and Android versions will follow soon.
