Apple to Launch AirTag 2 in Late 2025 with Improved Tracking Features and Durability

Apple is reportedly planning to release the AirTag 2 in the second half of 2025, sparking excitement among fans of the company’s tracking device. The first-generation AirTag, launched in 2021, has been widely praised for its ability to help users locate lost items using Apple’s Find My network. Now, with the upcoming second generation, Apple aims to build on that success by introducing new features and improvements.

The AirTag 2 is expected to come with enhanced location tracking capabilities, possibly offering even more precision than the current model. This would be especially beneficial for finding misplaced items in densely populated areas or multi-level buildings, where pinpoint accuracy is key. Some rumors also suggest the inclusion of improved Bluetooth range and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, allowing faster and more reliable communication with other Apple devices.

In addition to improved hardware, there could be changes in design. While the original AirTag was praised for its minimalist look, Apple might introduce more durable materials in the AirTag 2, making it better suited for outdoor and rugged use. It’s also speculated that the second-generation AirTag could come in more color options, providing users with greater personalization.

Another key area of potential improvement lies in battery life. Although the original AirTag’s replaceable battery lasts about a year, Apple may look to extend that lifespan or even explore alternative charging options like solar power or wireless charging. These changes would make the AirTag 2 more convenient for long-term use, further reducing the hassle of battery replacements.

With privacy concerns always in mind, Apple might also update the safety features in the AirTag 2. The first generation already includes anti-stalking measures like notifying users if an unknown AirTag is tracking them, and Apple could enhance these protections further with more intuitive alerts or even collaboration with law enforcement.

While Apple has not officially confirmed the release date or specific features of the AirTag 2, fans are eagerly awaiting its debut. If the rumors hold true, the next-gen AirTag could solidify Apple’s dominance in the smart tracking space by offering a more advanced, versatile, and user-friendly device.
