Apple Unveils iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max: Featuring Titanium Frame and A17 Chipset

At the “Wonderlust” event held last night, Apple made a grand announcement, introducing the eagerly awaited iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. These two models have received substantial upgrades across various aspects, including the adoption of titanium-grade 5 frames, the introduction of the new A17 Pro chipset, and notable camera enhancements, notably a 5x optical zoom telephoto sensor.

One of the enduring features that has been retained is the Dynamic Island notch, which is now also integrated into the two lower-tier models, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. A significant change in the iPhone 15 Pro Series is the USB-C port, which has been significantly upgraded to USB 3.0 specifications, boasting impressive transfer speeds of 10Gbps.

One of the standout improvements in both the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max is the adoption of titanium grade 5 frames. This not only makes them significantly more robust compared to stainless steel but also remarkably lighter. In comparison to the previous iPhone 14 Pro models, the weight of the 15 Pro Series has been reduced by a substantial 19g, establishing them as the lightest Pro models ever produced by Apple.

In terms of display specifications, they remain consistent with a 6.1-inch screen for the iPhone 15 Pro and a 6.7-inch screen for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Both of these displays feature Super Retina XDR OLED panels, capable of reaching brightness levels of up to 2000 nits. However, the notable change lies in the significantly thinner bezels, with reports claiming that these bezels are the thinnest ever crafted by Apple.

The iPhone 15 Pro Series is powered by the A17 Bionic chipset, the first smartphone SoC to employ 3nm process technology. This advancement promises superior performance and enhanced efficiency. Comprising a 6-core CPU and a 6-core GPU, with an additional graphics core in comparison to the A16 Bionic, the A17 Pro offers a claimed 10 percent boost in processor performance and a 20 percent increase in graphics performance. Furthermore, Apple has equipped it with a 16-core unit Neural Engine, enriching its AI capabilities.

Camera enthusiasts will also find plenty to be excited about in the iPhone 15 Pro Series. The new 48MP IMX80 main sensor boasts a larger 1.22µm sensor size, promising exceptional low-light photography. Additionally, the 12MP ultra-wide camera and 12MP periscope telephoto lens offer 3x optical zoom for the iPhone 15 Pro and an impressive 5x optical zoom with a 120mm focal length for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Even the selfie camera receives an upgrade, now featuring 12MP.

One particularly captivating feature of the iPhone 15 Pro Series is its support for spatial video recording for the Vision Pro device. This was a feature initially anticipated to debut on the iPhone 16 Ultra next year.

Adding to the innovations is the introduction of the solid-state Action button in the iPhone 15 Pro Series, which replaces the traditional mute switch. This multifunctional button can serve as a mute switch while also offering a range of other functionalities, including quick access to the camera, voice memo initiation, shortcuts to various apps, and more.

All these enhancements come alongside the retention of other standout features such as emergency satellite SOS, crash detection, IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC support, and more. Both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are already powered by the latest iOS 17.

The pricing for these cutting-edge devices varies, with the iPhone 15 Pro starting at USD 999, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max beginning at USD 1,199. These models are available in four distinct colors: Black Titanium, White Titanium, Blue Titanium, and Natural Titanium.
