Apple’s Upcoming iOS 17 and iPadOS 17: A Simultaneous Release Strategy

Apple is planning to take a different approach this year by releasing iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 simultaneously in 2023. This marks a departure from the previous year when iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 were introduced separately, with a gap of around one month between their releases.

This insightful update comes from the reputable Apple insider, Mark Gurman, who has indicated that the development of both iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 is now in its final stages, hinting at an impending launch by Apple.

The eighth Beta version of these operating system updates for iPhone and iPad serves as the last step before the official release. It has already been made available to developers and public beta testers since the past week.

iOS and iPadOS

To recall, in the preceding year, iOS 16 was rolled out to users on September 12th (notably, Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 Series on September 6, 2023). In contrast, iPadOS 16 had a delayed launch on October 24th.

The reason behind this staggered release was primarily attributed to a critical issue with the Stage Manager feature within the iPadOS 16 update. This necessitated Apple to rethink its customary practice of releasing both operating system updates simultaneously.

Looking ahead, it is anticipated that the updates for iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 will follow closely after the unveiling of the iPhone 15 Series. The launch date for Apple’s latest flagship phone is set for September 12, 2023.
