Corning has just unveiled its latest innovation in screen protection: Gorilla Glass 7i. This new glass is specifically designed for mid-range and entry-level smartphones, bringing high durability to a wider range of devices.
During Corning’s lab tests, Gorilla Glass 7i demonstrated impressive resilience, surviving drops onto asphalt from heights up to one meter. This level of durability sets it apart from competitors, whose screens often cracked or shattered under similar conditions. Additionally, Gorilla Glass 7i offers superior scratch resistance compared to other brands.
David Velasquez, Vice President of Corning Gorilla Glass, emphasized the importance of robust screen protection for smartphones. He highlighted Corning’s commitment to delivering stronger and more affordable screen protection with the Gorilla Glass 7i.
Oppo will be the first smartphone brand to integrate Gorilla Glass 7i into their devices. However, it’s not yet clear which specific Oppo models will feature this new glass.
