Qualcomm’s horizon widens as it introduces the new Snapdragon G Series, a lineup of processors tailored explicitly for the burgeoning world of handheld gaming devices. Unlike its predecessors, this Snapdragon G Series is purpose-built to power the immersive gaming experiences that have taken the market by storm.
The Snapdragon G Series branches into three tiers: G1, G2, and G3. At the forefront of anticipation is the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Platform.
The Snapdragon G1 is meticulously crafted for fanless handheld gaming devices, where streaming games seamlessly takes center stage. Its design prioritizes unfettered connectivity and extended battery life, ensuring gamers can revel in their virtual worlds for extended sessions. Anchoring the G1 series is the Snapdragon G1 Gen 1 Platform, armed with Qualcomm Kryo CPUs and Qualcomm Adreno A11 GPUs.
Moving onward, the Snapdragon G2 is tailored for handheld gaming in the realms of mobile and cloud gaming. Packed with a full feature set and boasting Qualcomm’s FastConnect 6700 Mobile Connectivity System, it embraces the prowess of 5G and Wi-Fi 6E. Taking the lead in this range is the Snapdragon G2 Gen 1 Platform, flaunting the latest Kryo CPUs, Adreno A21 GPUs, and the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System.
The apex of the series, Snapdragon G3, aims to be the pinnacle choice for elite handheld gaming experiences. Making its debut in the G3 series is the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1, the powerhouse behind Razer Edge 5G. Following suit is the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Platform, a second-generation gem featuring an 8-core Kryo CPU and Adreno A32 GPU. It promises a 30% leap in CPU speed and twice the GPU performance compared to its predecessor. This platform seamlessly supports a plethora of features: ray tracing, high-resolution gaming, XR Glass Tethering, low-latency Bluetooth, Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite, Wi-Fi 7 High-Band Simultaneous (HBS), and both sub-6 and mmWave 5G connectivity.
In a collaborative effort, Qualcomm has joined forces with partners and OEMs to bring these Snapdragon G Series-driven handheld gaming devices to life. Stay tuned for the imminent launch of these devices, promising to reshape the gaming landscape.
