Former Rockstar Boss Dan Houser is Cooking Up an Open-World Game

Former Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser is working on a new open-world action-adventure game through his new studio, Absurd Ventures.

If you’re a gamer who’s enjoyed Rockstar Games’ past titles, then you’re surely familiar with this name. As one of the co-founders of Rockstar alongside his brother Sam Houser, Dan Houser served as both a writer and executive producer for many of the studio’s iconic games, including the Grand Theft Auto series, Bully, and Red Dead Redemption.

It was no surprise, then, that many were taken aback when Dan Houser decided to leave Rockstar in 2020. Thankfully, his journey in the gaming industry continued with the establishment of his new studio, Absurd Ventures.

Absurd Ventures’ goal of creating a narrative universe across various formats was initially met with some confusion and concern. Why? Because instead of video games, their two initial projects, American Caper and A Better Paradise, were graphic novels and audio dramas. Many gamers feared that Dan Houser’s talents would no longer be focused on video games with the formation of Absurd Ventures.

However, these worries have been put to rest. Through a recent job listing, Absurd Ventures has confirmed that they are working on an open-world action-adventure game. This ambitious project aims to deliver the best in combat and third-person shooter action across various gameplay modes.

Unfortunately, there are no details yet on whether this game will be set in the same universe as American Caper and A Better Paradise.

Dan Houser has also remained tight-lipped about the project. But what about you? Are you optimistic that this will be an exciting project to look forward to?
