Google has just released its first foldable device with the arrival of the Pixel Fold. However, it turns out that the Pixel Fold is not the only foldable device that Google had initially planned to launch.
According to the podcast “Made By Google Podcast” titled “Pixel Perfect: A Look at the Design of Google’s Latest Devices,” Google mentioned that they were also developing a second foldable device. Unfortunately, due to not meeting the standards, the release of this foldable device had to be cancelled.
Google itself did not provide further details about the second foldable device that was initially intended to be launched alongside the Pixel Fold in the same podcast. However, speculation suggests that the cancelled foldable device is likely to be a device developed to compete with the current market’s “flip” foldable devices.
This speculation arises from a statement made by George Hwang, the Product Manager of Google Pixel, at the previous Google I/O 2023, where they expressed their intention to explore various form factors of mobile devices, including the “flip” design.
