Redmi recently announced their 300W fast charging technology, only four months after breaking the record for 200W. The Xiaomi subsidiary demonstrated it through a video of a smartphone that can charge from 0 to 100% in less than five minutes.
Redmi used the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition smartphone, which was modified with a total battery capacity of 4,100mAh, compared to the original dual-cell capacity of 4,300mAh. It took 2 minutes and 11 seconds for the device to reach 50% and less than five minutes for the battery to reach 100%.
From the shared video, the device itself reached a maximum of 290W for about three seconds before gradually decreasing. However, theoretically, the charging speed used is 300W, but for safety or battery protection reasons, the number is limited.
The adapter used is said to have dual GaN technology, which is claimed to have more than 50 protective sensors despite having a compact shape. Unfortunately, Redmi did not disclose when the fast charging technology will be available in the market and in which smartphone models.
For your information, the smartphone with the fastest charging speed currently on the market is the Realme GT Neo 5 or Realme GT 3 in the global market. The smartphone supports 240W fast charging, which is claimed to charge from 0 to 100% in less than 10 minutes with a battery capacity of 4,600mAh.
