Huawei Quietly Introduces Mate X5 Featuring Kirin 9000s

In a low-key fashion, Huawei has unveiled its Mate 60 Series without the usual fanfare, and now they’ve quietly introduced another premium device, the Huawei Mate X5. This latest addition to their lineup has made its debut without an official launch event and can currently only be found listed on China’s VMall e-commerce platform.

Let’s begin with the front-facing features of the Mate X5, which boasts a 6.4-inch OLED LTPO display. This display offers a resolution of 2504 x 1080 pixels and a cinematic 20.9:9 aspect ratio. It’s equipped with a rapid 300Hz touch sampling rate and is protected by robust Kunlun Glass.

When you unfold the device, you’re treated to a larger 7.85-inch OLED LTPO panel, featuring a resolution of 2496 x 2224 pixels and a unique 9:7.1 aspect ratio. The touch sampling rate on this larger display is 240Hz, ensuring smooth interaction. Both screens offer impressive specs, including a high refresh rate of up to 120Hz, support for 10-bit color, DCI-P3 color gamut, and a high-frequency dimming capability of 1440Hz.

While the exact chipset powering the Mate X5 remains undisclosed, it’s worth noting that it houses the Kirin 9000s chipset, a familiar component from the Mate 60 series. While its 5G capabilities aren’t confirmed, the device does come equipped with ample RAM, offering options up to 16GB, and internal storage can extend to 512GB.

Shifting focus to the camera system, the front camera boasts an 8MP sensor, while the rear setup includes a robust 50MP primary sensor, a versatile 13MP ultrawide sensor, and a 12MP telephoto sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Like its predecessors in the Mate 60 Series, this device operates on HarmonyOS 4.0.

Additional features include a substantial 5060mAh battery with support for both 66W Wired Charging and 50W Wireless Charging. The Mate X5 is equipped with dual SIM support, Wi-Fi AC, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC capabilities, and carries an IPX8 rating for water and dust resistance.

The Huawei Mate X5 is slated for official release on September 15, 2023, though official pricing details are yet to be revealed. As the device hits the market, tech enthusiasts and consumers alike eagerly anticipate its performance and impact on the smartphone landscape.
