Foldable devices are currently becoming a trend of their own. However, it must be admitted that the number of shipments and sales is still relatively small, considering the high price and specific target market.
Nevertheless, the latest report from IDC states that sales of foldable devices in 2027 could reach up to 48.1 million units. Meanwhile, sales of foldable devices from 2022 to 2027 will continue to increase up to tenfold.
In 2022, IDC reported that shipments of foldable smartphones were only 1.2%, with a total of 14.2 million units shipped. The foldable phone market is expected to be worth $42 billion in four years.
IDC’s analysis itself predicts that the foldable smartphone market in 2023 will bring shipments up to 21.4 million units. Of course, this increase is supported by more and more brands offering their own foldable smartphones, which are now designed to be more durable than before.
