Instagram recently announced that they are testing ad placement in search results. Not only that, the Meta-owned social media platform also intends to create ads with another new format in the form of “reminders” for its users.
In a blog post, Instagram said that the test of ads in search results is currently underway with several advertisers. They plan to launch it globally in the coming months.
Later, the ads will appear in the list of results when users search for something in the Instagram search bar. For example, if you are searching for a specific food on Instagram, the account of the store that sells the food will appear in your search results as a recommendation.
Meanwhile, the “reminder” ads are called by Instagram as a solution for businesses to announce, remind, and inform users about events or launches that they are holding, which may be of interest to users.
Simply put, it is a promotional ad with a special “reminder” feature. Users will have the option to be reminded by Instagram when the promoted event or launch is about to start.
This is not something new for Instagram. In recent years, they have seemed to want to add as many ad slots as possible on their platform. Instagram ads can be seen everywhere, from Home, Discovery, Reels, and even in the user profile section.
