Instagram Users Can Now Live Stream Just for Close Friends

Ever wanted to live stream on Instagram but felt a bit shy about a big audience watching? Instagram has got you covered. Now, you can do live streams just for your Close Friends.

With this feature, only people on your Close Friends list can watch your live stream. Plus, you can still invite up to three people to join you in the live stream. While this is pretty cool, it might make you wonder: if it’s just for close friends, wouldn’t a video call be easier?

But there are other ways this could be useful. For influencers, this feature can be great for doing exclusive live streams for select audiences or premium subscribers. It’s another way to keep things private, similar to how Instagram already lets you restrict Feed, Story, and Reels posts to Close Friends.

More New Instagram Features

Besides this, Instagram has rolled out some other new features. Now, you can post a video as a note that temporarily replaces your profile picture. Also, when you wish someone happy birthday in a note, you’ll see a fun confetti animation if you use the phrase “happy birthday” or similar terms and @-mention the person.

Instagram also updated the feed so you can add music to carousel posts that include videos. Before, you could only add music to carousels made up of photos.
