Apple’s recent introduction of the iPhone 15 Series ushered in a host of groundbreaking features previously unseen in their lineup. Notably, there’s a fresh addition pertaining to battery management.
Within iOS 17, tailored for the iPhone 15 Series, users can now delve into intricate details about the battery cycles of their devices. Accessing this information is straightforward; it can be found in the Settings menu under General > About within the Battery section.
Beyond just battery cycle data, users can also uncover specifics regarding the battery’s manufacturing date and initial usage date. These battery cycles are logged each time a user consumes the entirety of the battery’s capacity.
While this doesn’t directly impact the health of the battery, it empowers users with precise knowledge about the battery’s lifespan and wear and tear levels. Gone are the days when users needed third-party apps like CoconutBattery, typically used on a Mac, to access such data—a much-welcomed simplification.

Introducing a Novel Charging Mode for iPhone 15
In addition to this battery insight upgrade, iPhone 15 owners can now benefit from a novel charging mode designed to prevent the device from charging beyond 80% capacity. This deliberate limitation is aimed at curbing the rapid accumulation of battery cycles.
Regrettably, these two innovative features are exclusive to the iPhone 15 generation. Despite the iOS 17 update, users of previous iPhone models won’t have access to these advancements.
