Apple is gearing up for the mass production of the iPhone SE 4, slated to start in October 2024. This next iteration of the SE line is expected to bring significant upgrades, positioning it as a game-changer in Apple’s lineup.
The iPhone SE 4 will reportedly feature a design inspired by the iPhone 14, complete with a 6.1-inch OLED display, marking a significant shift from the previous generation’s smaller 4.7-inch LCD screen. This move underscores Apple’s intent to modernize its budget-friendly offerings, bringing them closer in line with their flagship models.
One of the most notable enhancements is the inclusion of Apple Intelligence—a suite of AI features introduced with iOS 18.1. This will make the SE 4 the first budget iPhone to support such advanced capabilities, thanks to the expected 8GB of RAM, which is a significant upgrade from the 6GB found in the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. Alongside this, the SE 4 will be powered by the new A18 chipset, ensuring it can handle AI workloads efficiently, providing a seamless user experience.
Additionally, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to adopt the USB-C port, aligning with Apple’s recent move to standardize its charging ports across devices. Other anticipated features include a 48MP camera, Face ID, and the potential for Apple’s own 5G modem, although there is some uncertainty about the latter.
These enhancements raise questions about the SE 4’s positioning as a budget device, especially if the price remains around $500. If so, it could offer flagship-level performance at a mid-range price, making it a highly competitive option in the market.
With production set to begin soon, the iPhone SE 4 could hit the market as early as January 2025, possibly coinciding with the Lunar New Year, further fueling anticipation for this next-generation device.
