Reports suggest that Samsung might be reverting to a flat screen design for its upcoming flagship model in the Galaxy S24 Series. It appears that the Galaxy S24 Ultra might move away from the curved screen design seen in its predecessors.
Samsung initially introduced curved screens back in 2014 with the launch of the Galaxy Note Edge. This distinctive curved edge design later became a hallmark of the entire Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 lineups.
In the subsequent generation, namely the Galaxy S21, Samsung designated the curved screen as an exclusive feature for its top-tier model, the Ultra. In contrast, the lower-tier model adopted the more conventional flat screen design seen in most smartphones.
However, a recent leak from Ice Universe suggests a departure from this trend for the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra. The source indicates that the device will boast a width of 79mm, signaling a shift towards a flat screen design.
By comparison, the Galaxy S23 Ultra measures 78.1mm in width, slightly smaller due to its curved edges. It’s important to note, though, that this information remains speculative at this point. Samsung might opt for a slightly larger screen size to accommodate changes.
Previous rumors have also hinted at design alterations for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus, which are expected to feature flat frame sides. As for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, reports suggest it will incorporate a titanium frame, albeit primarily for the central portion, with no significant impact on its overall weight.
The anticipated release of the Galaxy S24 Series is set for early next year. If current rumors hold true, the most significant enhancements will likely revolve around camera improvements and the use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. As the launch date draws closer, more comprehensive details about the device are expected to emerge.
