Nothing has introduced a glow-in-the-dark version of its latest smartphone, the Phone (2a) Plus, designed through a unique collaboration with community members worldwide. The special edition, called the “Community Edition,” is distinct for its phosphorescent green accents that glow after being exposed to light. This innovative glow effect uses light-reactive materials, giving the device an eye-catching feature without drawing additional power.
This edition was created with the input of fans as part of a global contest in which 900 participants from 47 countries submitted design concepts. From these entries, five winners were chosen to contribute to the final product’s design elements. Notable contributions include the phosphorescent design by Astrid Vanhuyse and Kenta Akasaki, six AI-enhanced wallpapers by Andrés Mateos, and specially designed packaging by Ian Henry Simmonds. The packaging maintains Nothing’s minimalist style while incorporating glow-in-the-dark and reflective elements, enhancing the unboxing experience.
Priced at the same level as the standard Phone (2a) Plus model, the Community Edition is set for a limited release, with only 1,000 units available starting November 12 on Nothing’s official site, followed by in-store availability on November 16 at Nothing’s flagship location in London.
