OnePlus 11 is the latest generation of the company’s flagship smartphone. Since then, the brand has launched several affordable high-end devices such as Ace 2 and Ace 2V, but there hasn’t been a true successor to OnePlus 11.
Now, according to Gizmochina on Tuesday (May 16, 2023), the latest leak suggests some interesting specifications for the OnePlus 12, which is expected to be launched next year.
The OnePlus 12 features Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 & new periscope camera
The latest leak comes from insider Digital Chat Station (DCS), who shared information on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). He claimed that the brand is currently testing a new periscope camera on the “SM8650” product.
This contested model number is reported to refer to the next-generation flagship chipset from Qualcomm, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Although the leak doesn’t specifically indicate that the smartphone is the OnePlus 12 model, it is highly likely that this device considering Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that supports OnePlus 11.
Furthermore, the leak adds that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be announced around the end of this year. In other words, it is probable that OnePlus 12 will feature this high-end processor.
In addition, another insider, Max Jambor, stated that the Chinese smartphone maker also plans to introduce various camera enhancements on their flagship smartphones in 2024. This includes testing a new periscope lens.
With the addition of a new and improved periscope lens, the OnePlus 12 will be able to offer better zoom functionality. For those who are unfamiliar, this type of camera is typically found in most flagship devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra.
