It is now confirmed that OnePlus will launch the new OnePlus Nord 3 on July 5 worldwide.
Reported as a rebrand of the OnePlus Ace 2V from China, this device will feature a similar design and mostly similar specifications. However, there is one major upgrade coming for the global market in the camera department.
Tipster Ishan Agarwal has leaked OnePlus Nord 3 promotional material, revealing that it will feature a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor for the main camera with OIS.
For those unaware, this is a flagship-level camera sensor that the brand has used in devices like the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 11R.
The promotional material also reveals that the device will have up to 16GB of RAM and will also support RAM-Vita (virtual RAM) feature.
The addition of this sensor will undoubtedly enhance the camera capabilities of the device. However, it’s important to note that overall camera performance heavily relies on the image signal processing capabilities of the system-on-a-chip (SoC).
While the OnePlus 11 and 11R smartphones were equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 8 Plus Gen 1 chipsets respectively, the Nord 3 will feature the MediaTek-developed Dimensity 9000 chipset.
It will be interesting to observe how effectively this chip can harness the potential of the Sony IMX890 sensor, considering the various hardware and software components involved.
Leaked Specifications of OnePlus Nord 3
Rumors indicate that the OnePlus Nord 3 will come with a sizable 6.74-inch display. This screen is said to offer 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
Powering the device, we can expect the powerful Dimensity 9000 processor paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Moving to the battery, the Nord 3 is rumored to have a large 5,000mAh battery, supporting impressive 80W fast charging capability.
In terms of the camera setup, leaks suggest a triple rear camera system, likely consisting of a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro unit. Selfie enthusiasts can expect a 16MP front camera.
Other features of the device may include dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, VC 4129.8 mm² cooling space, Alert Slider, NFC functionality, X-Axis Linear motor, and an IR blaster. Lastly, the pre-installed software is expected to be OxygenOS 13.1 based on Android 13.
