The Onyx Boox Palma e-reader has recently been officially launched. It is an electronic reading device (e-reader) that has a form and features similar to a smartphone. In fact, the Onyx Boox Palma also offers phone call functionality and social media capabilities.
One thing lacking in the Onyx Boox Palma e-reader is a SIM card slot, so users need to connect to WiFi to access the internet. Nevertheless, it is a compact e-reader that fits easily into pockets.
The screen itself measures 6.13 inches with an E-INK Carta 1200 panel, a special screen for e-reader devices. It is touchscreen with a glass layer for protection and has a resolution of 824 x 1648 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 300 PPI.
The device is powered by an unnamed Qualcomm octa-core chipset, with 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage. Additionally, there is also a MicroSD slot that supports up to 1TB of additional storage.
Unlike most e-readers that are solely for reading purposes, the Onyx Boox Palma is equipped with a 16MP rear camera and a microphone for phone calls. Oh, and this e-reader is based on Android 11 with Google Play Store, allowing you to download other applications, including social media.
The embedded battery is quite large, measuring 3,950mAh, claimed to last up to 14 days of usage. Its dimensions are 159 x 80 x 8 mm with a weight of approximately 170g. Some other features include Bluetooth 5.0, a light sensor, built-in speaker, USB-C port, and a customizable Function button.
The retail price for the Onyx Boox Palma is $279.
