Opera GX Introduces “Fake My History” Feature to Safeguard Privacy

Opera GX, keeping the concerns of privacy-conscious users in mind, has recently launched the “Fake My History” feature. In today’s digital world, privacy is a paramount need, and having the ability to conceal sensitive information holds immense value, especially when such features are offered free of charge.

The introduction of “Fake My History” in Opera GX aims to address the privacy concerns of its users by providing a unique mechanism. If the browser remains inactive for a period of 14 days, the “Fake My History” feature will automatically delete the user’s browsing history, providing an additional layer of privacy protection.

With this feature in place, users can now feel more at ease when leaving their PC unattended for extended periods, whether for vacations, work commitments, or other reasons, without worrying about others discovering their internet search history.

Moreover, the “Fake My History” feature goes beyond mere deletion and replaces the erased history with innocuous and normal-looking search terms. For instance, if the user had previously visited explicit websites, the browser will intelligently replace such history with mundane and harmless search queries, making it appear as though the browsing activity was entirely unrelated to sensitive content.

However, it’s important to note that the “Fake My History” feature will only come into effect if the browser remains unused for a duration of approximately 14 days. Users are encouraged to avoid accessing the browser during this period to ensure the automatic activation of the feature and enjoy its privacy benefits seamlessly.
