Xiaomi recently introduced the Redmi Note 12R Pro and is now preparing to bring the vanilla option. The Pro variant arrived in April with Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 and a price tag of $250.
Now, the company is gearing up for the vanilla variant, which surprisingly seems to be better than the Pro variant.
It is not common, but it appears that the Redmi Note 12R could be the first smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, which undoubtedly brings improvements over the first generation.
REDMI NOTE 12R SPECIFICATIONS
According to the leak, the Redmi Note 12R will pack the SM4450 chipset, expected to arrive as “Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2”.
Qualcomm has not announced this chipset yet, so we need to take this news with a grain of salt. The Redmi Note 12R vanilla was spotted on the China Telecom website with the model number 2307RA4BC.
Returning to the chipset, it will boast a 4nm Samsung node, which is a significant improvement over the 6nm in Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. Additionally, this phone will pack up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Unlike other devices in the family, this one will feature a micro SD card slot for further storage expansion.
China Telecom also revealed other details of the new mid-range phone. For instance, the Redmi Note 12R will come with a 6.79-inch Full HD+ display.
It is unclear whether this will be an LCD or AMOLED panel like other models in the Note 12 series. The phone will sport a 50-megapixel primary camera with only a 2-megapixel auxiliary sensor.
The listing also details the phone with dimensions of 168.6 x 76.3 x 8.17mm. It weighs 199 grams and will boast a 5,000mAh battery. The phone has a USB Type-C port, and it also features a 3.5mm audio jack.
Price Information
The Redmi Note 12R will be available in three color options – Midnight Black, Sky Fantasy, and Time Blue. The device has been listed with prices for each variant.
The base model will be priced at around CNY 1,100 with 4GB/128GB. The option with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will be sold for CNY 1,200.
There will also be an option with 8GB/128GB priced at CNY 1,600 and a higher-end model with 8GB/256GB priced at CNY 1,800.
