Recently, Qualcomm showcased its AI technology stack, a platform created by Qualcomm that optimizes software and hardware for AI processing.
In a demo, Qualcomm used a smartphone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC to create images using the Stable Diffusion platform.
Stable Diffusion is an AI generator platform that can create images from text, similar to Dall.e.
In the demo, Qualcomm’s platform was able to complete the task in around 14.4 seconds, much faster than usual. Qualcomm even claimed that this was the fastest record.
Usually, Stable Diffusion takes longer to process commands because it processes them in the cloud. However, by using Qualcomm’s AI Stack technology, the command is partially processed offline on the device, making processing much faster.
Through this demo, Qualcomm demonstrated its expertise in AI and showed how AI models that are usually run on computer devices can run smoothly on handheld devices.
Additionally, this Edge AI-based AI Stack technology can be more secure in terms of privacy, as data is not processed entirely online in the cloud but on the user’s device.
