Qualcomm has scheduled an event on March 17, 2023 in China with the theme of “Snapdragon Mobile Platform.” Although not explicitly stated, many rumors point towards the launch of a new Snapdragon 7 Series SoC at the event.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 itself was launched in the spring of last year, specifically in May 2022. Therefore, it makes sense for Qualcomm to unveil the successor to the mid-range chipset at their upcoming event.
However, it is not yet known what name Qualcomm will use, whether it will be Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 or directly to Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. But, given that its launch is about a year ago, it is likely that the name will use Gen 2.
The latest Snapdragon 7 Series is known to have the SM7475 code, which recently appeared on the Realme GT Neo 5 SE smartphone on Geekbench. The chipset has a configuration of 1 x 2.92GHz Cortex-X2, 3 x 2.5GHz Cortex-A710, 4 x 1.8GHz Cortex-A510, and Adreno 725 GPU with a clock speed of 580Hz.
Looking at these specifications, this will be the first time Qualcomm has embedded Cortex-X2 cores in a mid-range chipset. The new Snapdragon 7 Series is made with 4nm TSMC fabrication.
