Instances of hacking incidents seem to be increasingly common. This time, there are allegations that the servers of the leading gaming brand Razer have been hacked by unidentified individuals. Furthermore, there are suspicions that all the data has already started being sold on the internet.
Razer Server Hacked, User Data Sold for Around $100,000
Information regarding the alleged hacking of Razer servers was reported by PCGamer. The data breach not only includes information about the products they sell but also Razer Gold accounts, which are digital wallets specifically designed for in-game currency transactions.
The alleged Razer server breach was initially reported by FalconFeedsIO on the social media platform Twitter. They discovered someone selling databases, source codes, encryption codes, and other data from the Razer website.
From the accompanying image, it appears that the hacker, known as ‘The Racist,’ is attempting to sell the stolen data. The hacker is pricing the hacked data at 100,000 XMR (Monero).
The hacker is open to negotiations if anyone is interested in purchasing the data they have acquired.
Razer Taking Action
The hacking incident has been promptly addressed by the concerned parties. As soon as news of the Razer server breach emerged, the relevant parties initiated an investigation into the cause of the hacking incident.
“We received information about a suspected breach on July 9, 2023, targeting Razer Gold. Our team is currently conducting an investigation to thoroughly review the security of our website. We remain committed to ensuring the safety of all user accounts.” – Razer
While Razer’s team is currently delving into the case, this is not the first time Razer servers have been hacked by irresponsible individuals. In 2020, Razer inadvertently leaked the personal information of one hundred thousand users, including email addresses and phone numbers.
