In late January 2023, a report revealed that the Redmi Note 9 series would receive the MIUI 14 update in Q2 2023.
As reported by Gizmochina on Wednesday (3/29/2023), approaching that timeline, two devices in the lineup have already begun receiving the update. Unfortunately, the latest software update is limited to some specific users.
According to Xiao miui, Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 14 update for Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9S. The update is being pushed to the ‘Global’ variants of these handsets.
Unsurprisingly, the firmware is based on Android 12, not Android 13. Since these phones were launched with Android 10 and have already received two Android updates.
However, MIUI 13 is their third major MIUI update since their debut with MIUI 11. It’s good to see Xiaomi supporting them for three years of OS updates.
Nevertheless, as mentioned earlier, the MIUI 14 update for Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9S is only available for ‘Mi Pilot’ testers.
It will roll out to some regular users in the form of ‘Stable Beta’ in the coming weeks, followed by the final ‘Stable’ release for all users.
Thus, the update should be out for all units by the end of April or early May. At that time, the remaining Redmi Note 9 series can also use the MIUI 14 beta version.
