Rumor: AMD Strix Point to Launch as Ryzen AI 300 Series

AMD is rumored to be following Intel’s naming scheme for its next-generation Strix Point APUs. They will reportedly use a three-digit code like Intel Core Ultra and have a new branding called “Ryzen AI”. However, instead of starting with the number 100, the Ryzen AI will start with the number 300.

As revealed by the fairly accurate leaker, Golden Pig, AMD’s new Strix Point naming scheme will be “Ryzen AI 9 HX 370” for the HX-Series SKUs. Meanwhile, the standard SKUs will be called “Ryzen AI 9 365”. However, the tier order will still be there with Ryzen AI 5, 7, and 9.

AMD’s move to skip straight to the 300-Series is reportedly because they want Ryzen AI to look more superior to Intel, which is known to be releasing the Core Ultra 200-Series soon. This also marks the third iteration of AMD’s XDNA NPU, which debuted in the Ryzen 7000 Series APUs.

AMD Strix Point itself is expected to feature Zen5 CPU architecture, RDNA 3.5 graphics, and an XDNA2 NPU with up to 45 TOPS of AI performance. AMD is reportedly set to announce more details about Strix Point at Computex, which will take place from June 4-7, 2024.
