As the foldable phone market gains momentum worldwide, rumors have surfaced suggesting that Sony is also gearing up to enter this segment. According to reports, Sony’s foldable device will be part of their Compact Series, known for their compact-sized flagship smartphones.
Reported by Japanese media, Sumahodigest, the Sony foldable phone is said to feature a clamshell design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. However, it is rumored that the Sony flip phone won’t have an external display, allowing for a thinner and more compact form factor compared to most flip phones.
Unfortunately, there is limited information available regarding Sony’s foldable device at this time. Initial leaks suggest that the foldable phone might be named Xperia Fold, and it is rumored to offer gaming capabilities as well.
However, it remains unclear whether this information pertains to the same device mentioned earlier. Typically, the term “Fold” is used for horizontally folding phones resembling a book, while “Flip” refers to vertically folding phones.
Nevertheless, Sony’s entry into the foldable phone market signifies the promising potential of this technology. It is highly anticipated by Sony enthusiasts, considering Sony’s longstanding reputation in the mobile industry. Currently, Sony and Apple are the only two prominent brands that have yet to venture into this segment.
