The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset came with a significant performance leap and better efficiency. However, its successor has even higher ambitions.
An informant revealed that the next generation of Qualcomm’s flagship platform will feature a new CPU architecture while significantly pushing clock speed.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is said to have one main CPU core, Cortex-X4, at an unprecedented 3.7 GHz, five power cores for performance, and two small cores for efficiency.
According to Digital Chat Station, its model number is SM8650, and the GPU will be called Adreno 750.
The hope is that TSMC will continue to produce the chip, moving from the N4 node to the N4P node, which is still a 4nm process technology but with slightly improved efficiency.
The reason TSMC does not use the 3nm process is due to its production cycle – N4P is good enough and affordable, and the factory in Taiwan is ready to start mass production after the phone company completes its testing.
