The equipment like tools, keys, locks, chains and all the other equipment made up of metals and used in mechanical processes like repairing or maintaining machines is called mechanical equipment. Hardware and computer hardware are often confused. But there are some important differences between the two.
How does computer hardware work?
Computer hardware is all tangible components of a computer system that can receive or provide input (like keyboards and mice) or output (like monitors and printers). As a result, these hardware components of a computer system do not generate instructions themselves, but rather process the instructions generated by software or by the user.
When we say computer hardware, we mean only the hardware that is used in a computer system. If we say only hardware, we mean all of the hardware that can be used in a machine. As part of a computer system, computer hardware includes keyboards, mice, hard drives, CD drives, printers, RAM, etc.
If the hardware alone makes a computer system, that is wrong. A computer system with hardware and no software is the same as a skeleton without life. To make a computer system fully functional, software is needed in conjunction with the hardware. An operating system is the most basic software that allows a computer to function in a friendly manner and to support all user activities.
How does an operating system work?
In a layman’s language operating system is the software that brings life to computer system. However, the operating system itself does not do anything, but provides an environment in which other software programs can be executed. By interfacing with the computer hardware, it allows the user to operate the computer. The operating system provides guidelines on how to use the computer. It makes other hardware work efficiently.
As well as being a career for new generation, hardware and software also offer a very wide range of opportunities. If a person wishes to establish themselves as a hardware or software engineer, they can obtain their degree or diploma from any reputable institution and begin their career with an established organization, or they can start their own company if they wish to become entrepreneurs.
