Although still relatively new, the PlayStation 5 console or commonly known as PS5 has become a popular gaming platform beloved by gamers. Despite being new, many gamers are curious about the next generation of PlayStation console, namely the PlayStation 6. Recently, Sony has given clues or hints about their plans for the PS6 release schedule.
Sony Reveals the PS6 Release Schedule
In a new document from Sony titled “Sony Interactive Entertainment Observations on the CMA’S Issues Statement,” there is a lot of internal information happening within the company in the video gaming industry. Especially in relation to the Microsoft-Activision Blizzard acquisition which caused a stir among gamers and the video game industry as a whole. However, from the document, there is one interesting piece of information revealed by Sony, namely the PS6 release schedule.
When will PS6 be released? Based on information from Sony’s document, PS6 can only be released after 2027. This is written in the “Sony Interactive Entertainment Observations on the CMA’S Issues Statement” document in the first paragraph of page 8. The document states the following:
“When SIE (Sony Interactive Entertainment) launches the next generation PlayStation console (which is likely to occur around [deleted] year), it will enable Call of Duty and other Activision game titles to make it highly vulnerable to consumer switching and further degradation in competitiveness.”
Although the exact time has been deleted from the document, at least we can know that the PS6 console will not be released or announced in the next few years. Considering that the PS5 console is still relatively new for now.
