Telegram to Introduce Stories Feature Following WhatsApp

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov recently announced that the Stories feature will soon be available on the Telegram app. This feature, which allows users to update their status with temporary photos or videos, will be similar to those found on other platforms such as WhatsApp or Instagram.

Initially, Telegram had been quite opposed to this feature, although it cannot be denied that almost every social media or messaging platform has it. We can see it starting from Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, and even the latest addition, Signal, also introduced the Stories feature.

However, Pavel Durov explained that many users were requesting the Stories feature on Telegram. Its development is said to be in the final stages and will be released soon, specifically in early July.

Although the concept will remain the same, Telegram’s Stories feature will have some unique elements. One of them is the freedom to choose how long the Stories will appear, ranging from 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours, or even permanently displayed on the user’s profile page.

Stories on Telegram will also support both front and rear dual cameras when uploading a status, as well as the ability to add captions with links or mention other users through usernames. Meanwhile, the privacy options appear to be much more flexible, allowing users to create separate contact lists for each Story.

The Stories section itself will be located above the chat list. Interestingly, the Stories display will be expandable, allowing it to be hidden when not accessed. A preview of the Stories feature can be seen through the following link.
