Xiaomi’s foray into the world of flip-style foldable smartphones is becoming increasingly clear. A device known as the Mix Flip from Xiaomi has recently surfaced in China’s IMEI certification database, bearing the model number 2311BPN23C.
Speculation regarding Xiaomi’s venture into foldable phones with this particular form factor has been circulating in recent times. It is widely anticipated that Xiaomi’s debut flip phone, the Mix Flip, will be unveiled alongside the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 next year.
However, reports from GSMArena suggest that the Mix Flip may see the light of day before the conclusion of 2023. This speculation arises from the fact that the model number of the Mix Flip begins with the number 23, a possible indication of a 2023 release.
Earlier, GSMChina had already leaked the schematic design of the Xiaomi Mix Flip. Its external display appears generously sized, reminiscent of contemporary flip phones, and features an elongated camera module housing three cameras.
Regarding camera specifications, it is rumored that one of the sensors will be a telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. Another is evidently reserved for the primary sensor, while there is hope for a capable ultra-wide sensor as well.
The chipset is anticipated to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, scheduled for announcement in the upcoming October. Given the precedent set by the Mix Fold 3, one of the slimmest horizontal foldable phones currently available, the Mix Flip is likely to inherit a similar design ethos.
