Samsung is reported to have chosen a date for its second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, which is set to take place on July 26, 2023, earlier than the usual August timeframe. During the event, Samsung will unveil its latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Earlier reports mentioned that the South Korean manufacturer intended to launch their foldable devices in 2023, but the exact date was not known at that time.
According to recent reports from South Korean media outlet Chosun Media, as cited by SamMobile, Samsung has confirmed July 26, 2023, as the date for the Galaxy Unpacked event where they will introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
It is also stated that the Galaxy Unpacked event will be held in Seoul, South Korea, instead of overseas locations like the United States or Spain as in previous events. Furthermore, both Samsung’s foldable devices are expected to go on sale starting from August 11, 2023.
Industry leaks reveal that Samsung is pushing for the release of their foldable phones due to the significant decline in their semiconductor business this year, which has impacted their profit margins. Therefore, the launch of the latest Galaxy Z-Series is expected to improve their Q3 2023 earnings.
However, the competition in the foldable device market has been intensifying lately. Oppo has seen success with its Find N2 Flip, while Google recently launched its first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, and Motorola is also set to release the Razr 40 and 40 Ultra on June 1. Hence, it makes sense for Samsung to introduce their latest Galaxy Z lineup sooner to stay competitive in the market.
